About Monica Gartner

Monica Gartner is the author of newly-released Overcoming The Impossible: A Life of Trials and Triumphs where she shares the challenges of growing up with a genetic bone disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

Overcoming the Impossible

Getting through childhood was just the start of Monica’s challenging life that has been filled with countless trials and triumphs. Despite living with her very difficult disability and having hundreds of fractures, Monica has courageously demonstrated the power of the human spirit and persistence. Monica has not only graduated from high school and university and got a job after graduating, but she has also enjoyed traveling around the world, learned to drive a van, and has created a non-profit organization.

“Being disabled is a state of mind, not a state of being. You are only limited by your lack of imagination.”

Monica Gärtner
Author of Overcoming The Impossible

Serving Others

In addition to writing her book, Monica also works as a civil servant in Human Resources Department, and continues to volunteer her time with the Canadian Assisted Travel Society. Monica recently performed with Theatre Terrific “Every day in Every Way” – stories of the disability experience. She is also available for speaking engagements and is able to talk on a variety of topics such as Ditch Fear and Live in Freedom, Superior Customer Service, Creating a non-profit group and Overcoming the Impossible.

Despite living with her very difficult disability and having hundreds of fractures, Monica Gartner has courageously demonstrated the power of the human spirit and persistence.

About Daniel Rodriguez

Daniel Rodriguez’s is a storyteller and the embodiment of hope and service.

Daniel lived a life first riddled with poverty and verbal, sexual, and physical abuse since the age of six, then later to self-medication through severe substance abuse and crime. Against all odds, he transformed his life, becoming a model of healthy living and kindness. Now clean and sober, Daniel Rodriguez has become a living testament of the power of Grace, Hope and Love.

The Power of Belief

Despite Daniel’s checkered history of more than 25 arrests, 5 DUI’s, and almost 20 years of drug and alcohol addiction, Daniel’s life was touched by mentors who believed in the possibilities of the hero within him.

Helping The Down-and-Out

Blessed by the belief in him through the darkest of his days, Daniel now offers the same gift to others who are facing what feels like the impossible task of turning their lives around, even after living immersed in the world of addiction and crime.

Against all odds, Daniel Rodriguez is now a distance runner and ironman triathlete and coaches others to run as part of the Run to Remember and the Gold Star Race Program.

Going The Distance

Now the Manager one of the top auto-body shops in the state of Washington where he supervises 15 employees, Daniel has also become a sought-after public speaker, sharing his message of hope with the young and old alike. Having become a distance runner and ironman triathlete, Daniel now encourages many runners as part of the Wear Blue: Run to Remember cause (honouring military soldiers who lost their lives in service), and is also an encouragement coach for the Gold Star Race Program.

“Believing in yourself and others creates a power that is unstoppable”
